Definition of periods used on this site

I noticed that the history up till now (starting from one year after the dissolution of the Soviet Union) can be divided into 9-year periods with overlapping 1 transition year:

  • The Golden Years (1992~2000): Freedom from fear (of nuclear war). "End of history". Technological advancements. Rise of Internet.
  • The Silver Years (2000~2008): Post dot-com. Continuation of technological advancements. Web 2.0. Rise of blogging.
  • The Bronze Years (2008~2016): Recovery (or lack thereof) after the crisis. Rise of "microblogging". Beginning of "The Culture War".
  • The Iron Years (2016~2024): Trans ideology. Rise of focus in left-wing social justice and society's reaction towards the end of the period. Rise of short-form videos.
  • The Tin Years (2024~2032?): Internet censorship. Total breakdown of the current global world order? Rise of AI?

This classification, of course, does not account for modern (which means "after 2000" in my book) Japanese anime, with which I'd like to propose this classification instead:

  • Era I: 2000 ~ 2009
  • Era II: 2010 ~ 2021
  • Era III: 2022 ~ Now

Of course, just like any other artificial division of the same kind, are advisory at best and unsolicited personal opinions at worst. How I perceive things is decisively different from that of yours, you should listen to your gut feelings more.
